5 Recipes On How You Can Create Sophisticated Cocktails With Olive Oil

Often associated with Mediterranean cuisine or even salads, it is time to reimagine how you use olive oil. Did you ever imagine that olive oil could be used to create a delicious cocktail? We are here to tell you how by introducing you to five delicious cocktail recipes that use olive oil.

Citrus Olive Oil Spritz

The citrusy vibrance of the orange and lime in the cocktail melds seamlessly with the smoothness of olive oil, creating a cocktail that is refreshing and effervescent.

To create the drink, you will need:

45 ml vodka

20 ml orange liqueur

15 ml fresh lime juice

8 ml olive oil

Soda water

Orange wheel (for garnish)

To prepare the drink:

In a cocktail shaker, add the vodka, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice and olive oil. Shake well and strain the mixture into a highball glass filled with ice. Top the drink off with soda, stir gently and garnish with an orange wheel.

Mediterranean Martini

Complementing the botanicals in the gin, olive oil imparts a velvety texture to the Mediterranean Martini. 

To create the drink, you will need:

60 ml premium gin

30 ml dry vermouth

12 ml olive oil

Lemon twist for garnish

To prepare the drink:

In a mixing glass, add the gin, vermouth and olive oil. Add ice to the mixture and stir well. Then, strain the drink into a chilled martini glass. To complete the drink, add a lemon twist for garnishing. Don’t forget to bruise the twist lightly to release its oils and flavours.    

Basil Bliss Bourbon

The richness of the bourbon marries the herbal notes of fresh basil, while the honey syrup and olive oil create a good balance of sweetness and depth.

To create the drink, you will need:

60 ml bourbon

15 ml honey syrup (made from equal parts honey and water)

15 ml fresh lemon juice

8 ml extra virgin olive oil

Fresh basil leaves (for muddling and garnishing)

To prepare the drink:

Muddle a few basil leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Then add the bourbon, honey syrup, lemon juice and olive oil. Now, fill the shaker with ice and mix vigorously. Strain the drink into a rock glass filled with ice. Finish the drink with a sprig of basil.

Rosemary-infused Olive Oil Sour

In this drink, the depth of the whisky is wonderfully complemented by the herbal infusion of rosemary in the simple syrup, while the olive oil provides a luxurious element.

To create the drink, you will need:

60 ml whisky

20 ml rosemary-infused simple syrup

15 ml fresh lemon juice

8 ml olive oil

Rosemary sprig (for garnishing)

To prepare the drink:

Add the whisky, rosemary-infused simple syrup, lemon juice and olive oil to a cocktail shaker. Shake the ingredients well and strain the mixture into a chilled coupe glass. Serve the drink with a fresh sprig of rosemary.

Smoky Olive Oil Negroni

The olive oil in this Negroni adds a silky texture that complements the bitter-sweetness of Campari and the botanicals of gin.

To create the drink, you will need:

30 ml gin

30 ml Campari

30 ml sweet vermouth

8 ml olive oil

Orange peel (for garnish)

To prepare the drink:

In a mixing glass, combine gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, olive oil and ice, and stir it well. Then, pour the mixture into a rock glass over a large ice cube. Before adding the orange peel, bruise it slightly to release its aromatic flavours.
