Cocktails Made Using Indian Desserts? Yes, They Exist!

What would happen if you combine mouthwatering Indian desserts such as gulab jamun, rasmalai, thandai and cocktails? The answer would 'an explosion of rich flavours'! Can you imagine sweet, syrup, ghee-laden Indian sweets in cocktails? 1. Whisky Gulab Jamun

Ingredients

Ready-mix packet of gulab jamun

60 ml Water

80 gms Sugar

15 ml Whiskey

Method

Take a small saucepan and combine sugar and water in it under medium-high heat. Boil and stir till the sugar dissolves and the mixture turns sticky. Turn off the heat and keep the syrup aside for cooling. Now, add whiskey to it and leave it aside. Use the ready-mix packet of gulab jamun to make the sweet reddish-brown balls and put them in a bowl. Now take the syrup and heat it up mildly. Pour the syrup over the gulab jamuns and serve it.

2. Mango Lassi Cocktail

Ingredients

Fresh or frozen mango

480 ml Captain Morgan Dark Rum   

120 ml yoghurt

1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

pinch of Turmeric

Ice

Method

Unpeel the mango and put it in a blender. Add the rum, yoghurt, cinnamon and turmeric to it. Add a handful of ice. Blend until the content becomes smooth. Pour the drink in a tall glass. Stir a teaspoon of honey if you need it to be sweeter.

3. Rasmalai Cocktail

Ingredients

Ice

120 ml Tanqueray

120 ml Rasmalai milk

30 ml grenadine

Dried rose petals for garnish

Method



Take a cocktail shaker, add some ice and all the ingredients. Shake well. Take a cocktail glass, add a few ice cubes and pour the drink over it. Garnish with dried rose petals.

4. Indian Cosmopolitan

Ingredients

15 ml Rose syrup

20 ml Triple Sec

15 ml Lemon juice

15 ml Orange juice

15 ml Sugar syrup

35 ml Smirnoff vodka

Ice cubes

Orange wedge, for garnish

Method

Take a shaker, fill it with ice cubes and then add all the ingredients. Shake vigorously. Take a chilled cocktail glass and double-strain the drink into it. Rub the rim of the glass lightly with an orange wedge and finally use it as a garnish. 

5. Thandai White Russian

Ingredients

60 ml Smirnoff vodka, chilled

30 ml Kahlua

45 ml heavy whipping cream, chilled

1 teaspoon of Thandai masala

6-8 strands of Saffron

1 single large ice cube or 3-4 small ice cubes

Rock candy stick, for garnish

Method

Take an old fashioned or lowball glass. Pour the chilled vodka into it. Add the Kahlua, ice and stir until the glass becomes cold. Set the glass aside. In a mason jar, pour the whipping cream and whip it with a frother for 10 seconds until the cream gets dense but peaks aren't formed yet. Add the Thandai masala and saffron to the cream and whip until peaks are formed. Make sure to not overbeat the cream. Now, top the lowball glass with the Thandai-spiced heavy whipping cream. Garnish with rock candy stick Serve the cocktail as it is or stir it before serving.
