Five Snack-Based Cocktails That Will Make You Drool

Mixologists have pushed the envelope this year with mind-blowing innovations. One of the popular trends they have set is cocktails based on snacks. A sweet and/or savoury twist to the classic cocktails surely gives these favourites an added dimension.  Plus: the experiments one can do for snack-based cocktails are endless. Check out the recipes for some of the yummiest snack-based cocktails.

1. Spicy BLT Green Bloody Mary

Ingredients

240 gm Green tomatoes

1/2 teaspoon Red wine vinegar

1/2 tablespoon Parsley

30 gms English cucumber chunks

1/2 Lime juice

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Quarter of Jalapeno

1/2 teaspoons Horseradish

Ice

60 ml Smirnoff vodka

Salt to taste

For Garnish

1 Romaine lettuce leaf heart

1 Crispy bacon strip

Cherry tomatoes

Lemon wedges

Method

Take a blender and add green tomatoes, vinegar, parsley, cucumber chunks, lime juice, Worcestershire and jalapeno to it. Blend until the puree is very smooth. Add the horseradish and the vodka. Season with salt. Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the drink over them. Garnish with Romaine lettuce leaf heart, crispy strip of bacon, cherry tomatoes and lemon wedges.

2. Vodka Oyster Shooter

Ingredients

1 raw oyster

1 teaspoon cocktail sauce, store-bought or homemade

1 tablespoon Smirnoff vodka

1 Lemon wedge, for garnish

Method

Add the oyster to a shot glass and top it with cocktail sauce and vodka. The drink is ready to serve! 

3. Red Wine Sangria

Ingredients

15 gm sugar

15 ml water

185 ml  Red wine bottle

30 ml brandy

60 ml Pomegranate juice

A quarter of  sliced apple

A quarter of sliced orange

60 gm sliced strawberries

Method

Make simple syrup by combining sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil. Cook until the sugar is dissolved. Keep it aside for cooling. Take a large pitcher and add apples, oranges and strawberries into it. Pour the red wine, brandy, pomegranate juice and the cooled simple syrup. Refrigerate for at least two hours. For best results, keep it in the fridge overnight and serve it the next day.

4. Grilled Cheese Bloody Caesar

Ingredients

180 ml Tomato Juice

3 tablespoons Smirnoff vodka

1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce

3 dashes Hot Pepper Sauce (Tabasco)

1 Lime, squeezed

Salt and Black Pepper to the taste

Ice cubes

Topping:

¼ Sharp Cheddar Grilled Cheese Sandwich (cut one in 4 pieces)

1 cube Sharp Cheddar

1 Cooked Bacon Strip

2 Olives

Method

Take a high glass and mix the ingredients except the lime. Top a short glass with ice cubes and pour the contents of the high glass into it. Squeeze in the lime juice. Add the mini-sandwiches, cheddar cube and bacon onto a skewer stick to garnish the glass. The drink is ready to be served.

5. Chocolate Peanut Butter Old Fashioned

Ingredients

2 teaspoons Chocolate syrup

60 ml peanut Butter whiskey

2 dashes Chocolate bitters

1 dash Coffee bitters

1 dash Walnut bitters

Grated chocolate for garnish

1 Peanut butter cup for garnish

Method

Decorate a dry rocks glass with chocolate syrup. To do that, drizzle the syrup around the glass' inside wall using one hand while rotating the glass with the other hand. Now pour the peanut butter whiskey into it. Add ice cubes gently and top with the bitters. Garnish with a sprinkle of grated chocolate and a peanut butter cup.
