From Mocktails to Cocktails: Galentine's Day Drinks for Every Pal
Galentine’s Day (pop culture-invented take on Valentine’s Day to celebrate female friendships) is dawning on us! It’s time to get your girl gang together for an enjoyable day filled with good food and drinks. Below are some cocktail and mocktail recipes that will add a splash of fun during the event.
1. Some Like It Hot
Start with something spicy to set off the celebrations.
Ingredients
30 ml Bourbon cream
20 ml Jalapeño syrup
Hot Coffee
1 tablespoon Marshmallow fluff, for garnish
Method
For The Jalapeño Syrup
Take equal proportions of boiling water and jalapeno slices in a pot. Put it on medium heat and cook for 10 minutes. Once the content is slightly thickened, remove it from the stovetop. Let the content cool and then strain into an airtight container.
For The Cocktail
Take a coffee mug and add bourbon cream and jalapeño syrup. Stir well to combine. Top with hot coffee but make sure to leave space at the top. Stir and top with a heaping spoon of marshmallow fluff.
2. The Pink Señorita
Celebrate womanhood and female friendships with this blush-hued twist on the classic margarita.
Ingredients
Lemon wedge, for rimming
Coarse salt, for rimming
120 gms Ice
120 ml Pink lemonade (lemonade with added colour)
10 ml Lemon juice, freshly juiced
30 ml Triple sec
60 ml Don Julio Reposado
1 Lemon slice, for garnish
Method
Take a cocktail glass and rub a lemon wedge around its rim. On a plate, add a layer of salt. Dip the cocktail glass in the salt so that the edges are covered with it. Now, add ice to the glass and pour pink lemonade, lemon juice, triple sec and tequila. Stir well to combine. If you prefer lots of ice, stir the mix first and then pour over ice. Garnish the prepared glass with a lemon slice.
3. Tequila Bee’s Knees
Enjoy the tequila twist on the classic gin-forward Bees Knees cocktail.
Ingredients
45 ml Don Julio Reposado
20 ml Lemon juice, freshly juiced
15 ml Cranberry juice, freshly juiced
15 ml Honey
Maraschino cherry, for garnish
Lemon twist, for garnish
Method
Take a shaker with ice and add all the ingredients. Shake vigorously and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a lemon twist.
1. How Grape Is Your Self-Love?
Ingredients
120 ml Black grape juice
a pinch of Cumin seeds
a pinch of Thyme
a pinch of Fennel seeds
a pinch Black rock salt
1 teaspoon Tamarind pulp
Crushed ice
Black grapes, for garnish
Green grapes, for garnish
Method
For The Tamarind Pulp
Heat half a cup of water till the water is warm. Pour the water into a cup. Take a small chunk of tamarind and keep it in the water, mash it between your fingers till you get soft water. Strain out the water so you are left with semi-fluid tamarind pulp.
For The Cocktail
In a pan, roast cumin seeds, thyme, and fennel seeds. Take a mixing glass and pour the grape juice into it. Add the roasted spices, black rock salt, and tamarind pulp to it and mix well. Add ice to a cocktail glass and pour the mixture into it. Garnish it with black and green grapes and serve.
2. Girl Squad Sip
Ingredients (Batch Proportions)
Frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 l Ginger ale
Frozen raspberries, for garnish
Lime slices, for garnish
Rock candy lollipop, for garnish
Method
Take a large pitcher and mix the lemonade concentrate and ginger ale. Add 3-4 frozen raspberries to a champagne glass. Slowly pour the drink mix over the raspberries until the glass is full. Garnish with a slice of lime a d a rock candy lollipop.
3. The Girls Trip
Ingredients (Batch Proportions)
For The Strawberry Sauce
Ingredients
900 gms Strawberries, hulled and chopped
40 gms Granulated sugar
Drops of Lemon juice
Drops of Vanilla extract
For The Cocktail
Ingredients
900 gm Crushed ice
150 ml Pineapple juice
150 ml Canned Coconut milk
120 ml Cream of coconut
60 ml Strawberry sauce, freshly made
Pineapple slices, for garnish
Strawberries, for garnish
Method
For The Strawberry sauce
In a medium-sized pot, add strawberries, sugar, lemon juice and vanilla. Cook over medium-low heat for about 15-20 minutes to combine. Stir frequently till the berries release their juices and the sauce starts to thicken. Remove the pot from heat and let the sauce cool on the counter. Use the sauce once it has cooled off.
For The Cocktail
Blend ice, pineapple juice, coconut milk, cream of coconut and strawberry sauce in a blender. Keep the power on till the ice is crushed further to get the desired consistency. Pour the mixture into cocktail glasses. Garnish with pineapples and strawberries.
