The Strawberry & Spirits Pairing Guide You Didn't Know You Needed

Here’s A Guide On Pairing Strawberry With The Right Spirits 

Tis' the season for strawberry deliciousness! This sweet and tangy berry is super-versatile and goes with all kinds of alcohol. Check out recipes to pair strawberries with liquors.

Most of the recipes are in batch proportions.

Rum

1. Strawberry Mojito

Ingredients

10 Strawberries

2 Lime, chopped

2 tablespoon Granulated sugar

2 Sprigs of mint, leaves picked

Ice

350 ml Captain Morgan White Rum

600 ml Sparkling water

Method

In a large jug, muddle strawberries, limes and sugar with the back of the spoon and muddler. Bruise the mint leaves and add to the glass with a pinch of black pepper. Add lots of ice and stir in the rum and sparkling water.

2. Strawberry Daiquiri

Ingredients

500 gm Strawberries, hulled

200 gm Ice

100 ml Captain Morgan White Rum

1/2 Lime juice, freshly squeezed

1-2 tablespoon Simple syrup

2 Lime slices, for garnish

1 Strawberry, halved, for garnish

Method

Puree the strawberries in a blender and strain the liquid to remove the seeds. Put the strained puree again in the blender and add ice, rum, and simple syrup. Blend again and pour the mixture evenly in two glasses. Thread the lime slices and strawberry halves in cocktail sticks and place them on the edge of the glass. Serve immediately.

Gin

1. Strawberry Gin

Ingredients

700 ml bottle of Tanqueray No 10 

400 gm Punnet Of Strawberries, sliced

100 gm Caster Sugar

Method

In a large bowl, combine gin with strawberries and caster sugar. Pour the mixture into a 1.5-litre sterilised Kilner jar. Store the jar in a fridge and stir every two days for three weeks. Strain the liquid into serving glasses.

Vodka And Wine

1. Mrs Momoiro

Ingredients

Ice

30 ml Smirnoff Vodka 

15 ml Strawberry liqueur

130 ml Dry rosé wine

2 dashes of Absinthe

Handful of strawberries, hulled and sliced, for garnish

Method

Take a wine glass and fill it with ice. Pour the vodka, strawberry liqueur, absinthe and rosé and stir well. Add strawberry slices to garnish, then serve.

2. Easy Sangria

Ingredients

2 Oranges, chopped

2 Pears, chopped

2 Lemons, 1 chopped, 1 juiced

200 gm Strawberries, chopped 

3 tablespoon Caster sugar

1 teaspoon Cinnamon

Ice

750ml (bottle) Light red wine

100ml Spanish brandy

300ml Sparkling water

Method

Take a bowl and put chopped fruits in them, and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on them. Stir to coat the fruits with sugar and cinnamon. Cover the bowl and leave to macerate in the fridge for at least an hour or ideally overnight.

Fill a large jug with ice. Stir the macerated fruit mixture to make sure the sugar has completely dissolved. Now, add wine and brandy to the jug with ice. Stir well. Top up with sparkling water and serve.

3. Frosé

Ingredients

1 bottle Dry Rosé

300 gm Strawberries, hulled and halved

50 gm Caster sugar

Juice from 1 Lemon

Method

Take a deep roasting tin and pour the contents from the bottle of rosé. Carefully place it in a freezer and store it overnight. Mix strawberries with sugar and let it sit for 30 minutes until the strawberries begin to release their juices.

Blend the frozen rosé, strawberries, sugar and lemon juice together. Pour the drink evenly into cocktail glasses and serve.
