Black Russian Cocktail

Ashifa Bano
The Black Russian is a delicious mix of flavours that has become a staple in cocktail culture. This classic vodka cocktail recipe brings together the premium spirit of Ketel One Vodka with the irresistible richness of Baileys Irish Cream to create a drink that is nothing short of indulgent. Ketel One Vodka, distilled from 100% wheat and pure spring water, offers a smooth and crisp taste that is unparalleled in the world of spirits. The 300-year-old family distillation process results in a vodka that is delicately flavoured, well-balanced, and incredibly clean. When paired with the creamy Baileys liqueur, the Black Russian elevates to a whole new level. Baileys, a blend of Irish whiskey and spirits, dairy cream, and a tempting mix of chocolate and vanilla, brings a smooth and velvety texture to this already decadent drink. The warm and nutty undertones of Baileys perfectly balance the cool and crisp notes of Ketel One, resulting in a drink that is well-rounded and satisfying. The addition of orange bitters and a garnish of an orange slice and maraschino cherry add a touch of acidity and sweetness to the mix, creating a flavour profile that is simply irresistible. In conclusion, the Black Russian is a timeless vodka cocktail that brings together the best of both worlds – the premium taste of Ketel One Vodka and the irresistible richness of Baileys Irish Cream. Whether you're a fan of classic vodka cocktails or simply looking for a new drink to try, Black Russian is the perfect choice for anyone seeking a luxurious and satisfying drink experience.

1. Grab a large mixing glass and fill it with ice. Pour 60ml of Ketel One vodka, and 30ml of Baileys into the glass.

2. Using a bar spoon, stir the contents of the mixing glass thoroughly and continuously until the mixture is well-chilled. The goal is to ensure that the alcohol and cream are fully combined and that the mixture is as cold as possible.

3. Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice.

4. Using a cocktail strainer, pour the mixture from the mixing glass into the old-fashioned glass filled with ice.

5. Garnish the drink with a slice of orange, a maraschino cherry, and a dash of orange bitters. The orange slice can be used to rim the edge of the glass, the maraschino cherry can be placed in the drink, and the orange bitters can be dripped over the surface of the drink.
