A cherry can be more than just a garnish for your cocktails. It can in fact be a flavour addition. Here are the easiest-to-follow DIY cocktail cherries guide you need to get these red fruits ready for your next party.
Wash the cherries, then dry them out completely before pitting them and removing their stems. Alternatively, you can also leave the cherries with their stems on.
Take a glass jar and its lid and boil it in hot water for 3 minutes. Let the jar and lid air dry completely before using them.
Make a simple syrup by dissolving equal parts of sugar in water. Boil the syrup for 5 minutes then let it cool down completely before using.
Place the cherries in the sterilised jar, then add flavouring agents like vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc along with a dash of rum, whisky or brandy.
Pour the cooled syrup on top until the cherries are completely submerged. Keep a gap on top of the jar in case the cherries expand.
Seal the jar and store the steeped cocktail cherries away for at least a week before using them to make your cocktails.
