As one of the world’s most popular alcohols, it’s no surprise that every country has its own favourite way to relish vodka – be it in cocktails or even cooking! Here are a few exotic versions of your favourite cocktails that you can try.
Despite its name, the Moscow mule cocktail does not hail from Russia. Instead, it emerged in Manhattan and Los Angeles during the 1940s.
To craft the zesty cocktail, pour 45 ml vodka, 15 ml lime juice and top with 180 ml ginger beer over ice in a copper mug. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
The ‘Tokyo’ in this tea isn’t about its origin but refers to the melon liqueur that gives it its memorable taste and colour.
Mix 7 ml each of gin, melon liqueur, rum, tequila, triple sec and vodka in a shaker, before adding a dash of sweet-and-sour mix or simple syrup and topping off with club soda before serving.
The Madras is a cocktail reminiscent of the Cape Codder and akin to the Cosmopolitan, offering sharp fruity and citrusy notes along with a colourful hue.
Fill a glass with ice, pour 45 ml vodka, 50 ml cranberry juice and 50 ml orange juice. Stir well and enjoy the zesty cocktail.
A well-loved Brazilian beverage, the Capiroska blends three basic elements – vodka, lime and sugar syrup. The cocktail’s flavours are united harmoniously with a touch of mint leaves for a zesty twist.
Muddle a few slices of lemon and handful of mint leaves with two teaspoons of sugar. Then add 30 ml of vodka and 120 ml of soda to it. Mix and serve with some lemon wheels and mint leaves as garnish.
The Warsaw – a nod to Poland's capital, is a cocktail that blends cherry liqueur with vodka for subtle fruity notes of sweetness and tartness.
Stir 30 ml of vodka, 7.5 ml cherry liqueur, 7.5 ml triple sec, two dashes of bitters and 30 ml chilled water together. Serve over ice in a coupe or wine glass.
Named after Cape Cod, this simple vodka and cranberry juice cocktail is suitable for autumnal gatherings.
Fill a highball glass with ice, pour 30 ml vodka, top with chilled cranberry juice, stir and garnish with a lemon wedge.
