Drinking whisky in the right manner is knowing how to appreciate its flavour, aroma and texture since any error in consumption can impact the experience of the spirit. From using inappropriate glassware to incorrect serving techniques, making minor adjustments during serving can make the appreciation for the spirit better, whether enjoyed as is, with water or soda or in a cocktail.
A large tumbler dissipates aromas rapidly, making it difficult to identify flavour notes; use a tulip glass instead, as it focuses on enhancing aromas and the tasting.
Consuming whisky too rapidly deprives the drinker from completely relishing its flavour compared to when it is sipped slowly – allowing it to coat the tongue enables greater identification of intricate notes.
Big blocks of ice dilute whisky faster and anesthetise the taste buds; it is better to serve the liquor with whisky stones or a handful of smaller ice cubes to keep flavours intact.
Adding a few drops of water releases embedded aromas and flavour notes, helping find a balance of alcohol strength without losing the whisky’s depth.
Whisky that is too cold numbs flavors while too much heat application accentuates the alcohol burn; it is advised that room temperature or slightly chilled whisky provides conditions for optimal tasting.
Exposure to direct sun or constantly varying surrounding temperatures risk lowering the quality of the spirit; it is recommended to store it in a cool, dark place. *Drink Responsibly. This communication is for audiences above the age of 25.
