The Whisky Sour—that timeless tipple that’s been on the lips of many, from seasoned sippers to cocktail rookies. Since we’re all about keeping things interesting, let’s take this classic concoction for a spin using some choice spirits.
Combine 50 ml of Black Dog, 20 ml of fresh lemon juice, 15 ml of sugar syrup, and the white of one egg in a shaker. Give it a good old shake until it’s frothy, then strain into a rock glass over ice. Garnish with a cherry or a slice of orange.
Swap in 50 ml of Johnnie Walker Double Black, keeping everything else the same. This variation is classic, with a bit of an edge. It’s the kind of drink that raises eyebrows and sparks conversations, perfect for those nights when you’re feeling a tad adventurous.
Replace the sugar syrup with honey syrup and use Talisker 10 for its distinctive peaty notes. The Talisker brings the breeze of the Scottish Highlands into the mix, while the honey rounds off the edges with its natural sweetness, creating a Whiskey Sour that’s both robust and comforting.
Use 50 ml of Johnnie Walker Black Label for its rich, complex depth, and add a bar spoon of ginger syrup to the classic mix. This Spiced Sour is a zesty affair that tingles the palate in all the right ways, offering a spicy take on the familiar. It’s cheeky, bold, and ultimately irresistible.
Mix 50 ml of Singleton 12 with apple juice in place of the lemon and maple syrup for a touch of autumnal sweetness. This variation is a nod to the orchards, with a whisky that carries the essence of fruit and nuts, creating just the right drink for the season.
