The old fashioned is a classic cocktail carrying the rich flavour of whisky and made with just a handful of ingredients. It offers a smooth and sophisticated concoction – made cohesive using bitters and citrus, that makes it a staple among cocktail aficionados.
15 ml bourbon or rye whisky ½ teaspoon simple syrup 2–3 dashes citrus bitters Few drops water Ice cubes Orange peel and cocktail cherry, for garnish
Combine the simple syrup with water and bitters in a rocks glass.
Stir gently to evenly mix the ingredients before adding in the whisky and ice cubes.
Hold the orange peel over the glass and give it a gentle twist, allowing the oils to release over the drink before dropping the peel in; add a cocktail cherry for garnish.
For a more refined flavour, use large ice cubes to minimise dilution and preserve the integrity of the cocktail. *Drink Responsibly. This communication is for audiences above the age of 25.
