A good single malt is reminiscent of the smoky and peaty soils of Scottish highlands from where it originates. Enjoying a glass of scotch or quality single malt is an indulgence for liquor connoisseurs who drink moderately.
Whisky – specifically single malt enthusiasts know that the vessel in which scotch whisky or single malt is served is just as important as the amber beverage.
While sipping on a single malt, you can enjoy it in its original form but given the increasing popularity of chilled drinks, adding a cube or two of ice to a rocks glass is advisable as a way of also diluting it slightly.
Components like colour and aroma are also important when you drink a single malt. Swirl the whisky when poured into a glass to assess its cloudiness because the cloudier the whisky, the more elegant its flavour.
Go for fruity or Speyside-style whiskies if you want a less-smokier version in your cocktails. Add plenty of citrus elements like a lemon wedge or a splash of orange juice to elevate the intensity of these crafted spirits.
Use blends and infused liqueurs like sweet vermouth or cherry brandy while making cocktails that incorporate quality malts.
