Let Cookies Be The Tonic To Your Gin With These Cocktails

Gin cookie cocktails

The notion of gin and tonic fusing together in the same glass to make unforgettable drinking memories is well known, but have you ever explored the combination of gin and cookies? Nothing short of enchanting, the harmony between gin and cookies in cocktail form is a fusion that leads to no confusion, only good times. Gin, known for its beautiful herby, botanical notes forms the perfect background for the most flavourful cookies in the world, creating a partnership of enticing notes that nobody should miss out on.

Crisp, botanical and with a juniper-led essence, gins like Tanqueray and Gordon’s provide an excellent profile that can be matched up with complex-flavoured cookies enriched with nuts, spices and even citrus. In fact, the more flavourful the cookies, the more enhanced the taste of the gin will be. This is especially true in the form of specially crafted cocktails that are inspired by the classics that highlight the flavours of gin.

If you are interested in trying out all new flavours of cocktails by marrying gin and cookies together, here are a few recipes you should try out.

1. Gin Fizz With Lemon Shortbread

The infusion of Lemon Shortbread into the classic Gin Fizz cocktail creates a whole new blend of flavours. To make this incredible cocktail, fill a shaker with ice cubes and pour in 50ml of Tanqueray gin, 25ml of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 15ml of sugar syrup. Shake the cocktail vigorously to marry the vibrant flavours, then strain it into a chilled, highball glass brimming with ice. Top it up with soda water and the crumbs of Lemon Shortbread. The crumbly, citrussy notes of the shortbread not only complement the gin's botanical depth but elevate the overall experience. You can of course serve more shortbread on the side for people to dunk into the fizz and enjoy.

2. Negroni Twist With Orange Cookies

The classic Negroni Twist is a favourite among many, but if you haven’t tried it with some Orange Cookies, you don’t know what you are missing out on. Begin by filling a mixing glass with ice cubes, then pour in 25ml each of Tanqueray gin, sweet vermouth, and campari. Stir the cocktail thoroughly then strain it into a glass filled with ice and rimmed with Orange Cookie dust. The final touch comes with a garnish of an orange twist and with a side of more Orange Cookies that can be dipped into the Negroni or enjoyed on the side.

3. Elderflower Collins With Almond Biscotti

If you are already in love with the floral notes of Elderflower Collins cocktail, then this fusion with Almond Biscotti will be even more precious for you. Combine 50ml of Gordon's gin, 25ml of elderflower liqueur, a dash of almond extract and zesty lemon juice in the shaker packed with ice cubes and shake vigorously. Strain this cocktail into a tall glass brimming with ice, topping it up with soda water for a sparkling finish. Enhance the flavours of the cocktail even further by adding a crisp cucumber slice and an almond biscotti. The nutty, subtly sweet notes of the biscotti complement the floral gin and elderflower, enhancing the drink with a delightful contrast of flavours.

4. Gin Punch With Cinnamon Sugar Cookies

If you though a Gin Punch is warming and delightful, wait till you add the heat of Cinnamon Sugar Cookies to them. To make this one, blend 200ml apple cider, 50ml Tanqueray gin, honey, a cinnamon stick, cloves, and fragrant orange peel in a saucepan. Warm the mixture gently, but make sure it doesn’t come to a boil. Once heated to perfection, strain the aromatic Gin Punch into a large, heatproof punch bowl. Serve it up with a garnish of Cinnamon Sugar Cookie powder and sliced apples, and enjoy as the notes of cider, gin and cinnamon sing on your palate like never before.
