3 Irish Whisky Based Summer Cocktails For Upcoming Parties; Recipes Inside

Irish Whisky Cocktail Banner

Come summer, it is evident that guests will show up at home on vacation days for get togethers and house parties. One of the spirits that can be incorporated in summertime drinks served during such gatherings is Irish whisky. This spirit has a smooth and light profile with hints of caramel and vanilla that give it a sweet flavour note. As well, a quality Irish whisky is complete with certain peaty notes too, making the spirit an amalgamation of smoky and sweet flavours.

Incorporating this spirit into cocktails means invoking Irish mixology cultures that involve blending it with mixers like vermouth and of course, absinthe or crème de menthe for the green hue. This leads to the crafting of cocktails that carry layers of complex, yet well-balanced sharp, tart and sour flavours. These tasting notes are ideal during summer weather and cocktails crafted using Irish whisky and Irish cream liqueur can be served at outdoor evening parties or cocktail nights in this season.

Read on below to know more about some recipes that can be prepared using Irish whisky for such upcoming summertime parties:

Shamrock Eyes Cocktail

This light green-coloured cocktail is an ode to the verdant hues that have come to symbolise Irish alcoholic mixes. Shamrock eyes can be made on summer evenings so the green in the drink adds a pop of colour into the gathering.

30 ml Irish whisky
15 ml crème de menthe
60 ml heavy cream
Ice as needed
2-3 mint leaves for garnish
Method:
– In a cocktail shaker, add 45 ml Irish whisky and 15 ml crème de menthe and stir well. Adjust the amount of crème de menthe to build more of its flavour in the drink. Next, add ice as required and 60 ml heavy cream and shake well. Serve this cocktail in a round glass with a garnish of 2-3 mint leaves.

Leprechaun Luck Cocktail

Another Irish cocktail with a significant cultural resonance, this drink can be prepared using a good quality melon liqueur. The distinctly sweet profile of this fruity mixer pairs well with Irish whisky to lend the cocktail a blend of fruity, caramel-like and smoky flavours.

30 ml Irish whisky
15 ml melon liqueur
90 ml pineapple juice
Ice as required
Melon wedge for garnish
Method:
– In a cocktail shaker, add ice, 45 ml Irish whisky, 15 ml melon liqueur and 90 ml pineapple juice and shake well. Serve the cocktail in a tall highball glass and garnish with a lime wedge. Use fresh pineapple juice if available to give the drink a more tropical touch.

Baileys White Russian Cocktail

Of the different Irish whiskies out there, one which stands out for its creamy and silky texture is the Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur. Made from a mix of Irish whisky, cream and cocoa, this drink has a chocolatey, coffee-like taste and can be utilised in sweet-forward or dessert-like cocktails at summertime gatherings. The Baileys White Russian is one such drink which blends the creamy liqueur with premium vodka in a mix of tart, creamy and sweet flavours.
