Colourful Cocktails

Summer season is quickly approaching and so are occasions for outdoor sundowners and summer festive gatherings. Hosts and bartenders are restocking on beverage ingredients that help create light, floral, sweeter or tangier, and often colourful cocktails and mocktails. And while setting up a party for the festival of colours, focusing on crafting these beverages can help cater to a mixed crowd of guests.

So, to add visual and flavour flairs to every sip, here are some colourful cocktail and mocktail recipes that every host can refer to for the festive celebrations.

Colourful Cocktails:

These top two cocktails here can be prepared this festive season to add some pinch of colour to the drinks menu.

Paper Plane Cocktail

A modern version of the Last Word cocktail, the Paper Plane Cocktail is prepared with a mix of 30 ml aperitif, 30 ml bourbon, 30 ml amaro and fresh lemon juice from 1 lemon. Mix all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker along with ice cubes, shake for 15-20 seconds until the mixture is chilled, and serve in a coupe glass. Garnish it with a lemon twist. This cocktail is a combination of tangy, bitter, and sweet taste. Paper Plane Cocktail is popular among people who prefer amaro-based drinks. A small, coloured paper plane can be a good way of garnishing.

Basil Smash Cocktail

Basil Smash Cocktail is one of the colourful cocktails that has a nice green hue and is easy to prepare. Having a blend of sweet, sour and bitter taste, the cocktail Basil Smash has a herbaceous flavour, which is complemented by the tangy taste of citrus fruits like lemon. The base alcohol needed in this cocktail is gin, and the basic ingredients include lemon juice, simple syrup and basil leaves.

1To make this cocktail, take 6 sprigs of fresh basil leaves in a cocktail shaker and muddle them. Put fresh lemon juice made from 2 lemons, 10 ml sugar syrup, and 30 ml gin. Shake vigorously. Strain the cocktail and serve chilled in a martini cocktail glass or cocktail coupe.

Colourful Mocktails:

Here are the top three colourful mocktails that can be served up during festive gatherings with friends and families.

Blue Lagoon Mocktail

Blue Lagoon mocktail is prepared with 100 ml exotic curacao syrup, which is added over ice, followed by 20 ml lemon syrup and, finally, 20 ml simple sugar syrup. Stir them and serve chilled in a hurricane glass after garnishing the glass rim with lemon or pineapple slices.
