Bibimbap Bites For Cocktail

Bibimbap is one of the most popular Korean dishes. “Bibim” means mixing, and “bap” is cooked rice. In bibimbap, cooked rice is served in a bowl with sauteed or blanched seasoned vegetables and gochujang (a chilli pepper paste). Eggs and minced meat are added to the non-vegetarian bibimbap rice bowl. All these ingredients are stirred thoroughly before eating.

With Korean food, especially one-pot meals like ramen and bibimbap, gaining popularity across the world today, many hosts are looking to serve Korean dishes for their cocktail parties, brunches and even sundowners. Serving up a bibimbap with an assortment of toppings that appeal to many tastes and choices can be an excellent idea for hosts. And if one was to pair the Korean bibimbap bowls with classic cocktails, it could make for an interesting Korean cocktail party menu indeed.

Here Are The 5 Different Mini Korean Rice Bowls For Cocktail Parties:

Mini Chicken Bibimbap Cups:

To make mini chicken bibimbap cups, the ingredients needed are steamed rice, minced chicken (marinated in sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic and sugar), julienned carrots, sauteed spinach and zucchini, the tastemaker gochujang sauce and sesame seeds to garnish. Use cupcake liners or ramekins as the serving plate. Make the base layer with the steamed rice, followed by small portions of the marinated and cooked chicken and sauteed veggies. At the end, drizzle some gochujang sauce and garnish each bite with sesame seeds for a classic look. To complement this dish, whisky highball with 30 ml premium Scotch whisky can make for an ideal cocktail pairing. A classic yet simple cocktail comprising whisky and soda water compliments the smoky and fiery taste of gochujang and clear the taste from the mouth in between the bites.

For people who like vegetarian food, vegetarian bibimbap bites can be an option for a cocktail party. To prepare this bibimbap, cooked short grain rice, shiitake mushrooms, carrots with Jullien cuts, spinach and pickled radish can be used. To give the entire dish a tangy flavour, kimchi must be added. To make bite-size bibimbap, take some rice in small lettuce cups. Add the sauteed veggies and kimchi on top of each cup. To enhance the umami notes of sesame oil and soy sauce of vegetable bibimbap bites, the ideal cocktail pairing is a classic martini cocktail, which has 30 ml premium vodka. The clean and briny flavour of this cocktail plays the most essential role here.

Spicy Tuna Bibimbap:

Sushi rice or jasmine rice is the main ingredient to keep at the bottom layer of the bibimbap bites. Make a spicy tuna by cooking it lightly with sesame oil and add gochujang sauce and some mayo. Prepare sliced cucumbers, shredded cabbages, and bean sprouts and keep them handy beforehand. Toasted seaweed strips can be used as a garnish. For making a bite-sized spicy tuna bibimbap, use cabbage leaves and make the rolls. First, put some cooked rice at the bottom of the cabbage leaf. Add spicy tuna to it, followed by a few veggies. Garnish each bite with toasted seaweed and some drizzle of sesame oil. A slightly sweet Moscow mule cocktail (comprising 25 ml premium vodka, ginger beer and lime) pairs well with this dish due to the presence of ginger in ginger beer and lime that complements the fiery flavour of gochujang.
