Let’s play!

The Clues:

1. Tiny, purple and floral, I smell nice and show up in French-style gin cocktails and spritzers.
2. I am green, crisp, savoury and often muddled. I am comfortable in gin cocktails and salads too!
3. I sound like an old flower, but I have a fruity taste and a honeyed layer. I am often used for making liqueurs and tonics.
4. I am bright, juicy, crispy, tropical and pink! I am a fruit found in beachy drinks which are sweet, tangy and sometimes even spicy.
5. I am green, tangy and acidic. I am the hero of this season and change into a bright yellow colour when I ripen.
6. I am citrusy, tangy, sweet and used as juice and garnish both. My colour hides my name.
7. I am sour, tangy, acidic, yellow and used to make sherbets and coolers. I am great with gin, whisky and vodka cocktails.
8. My purple stain is hard to get rid off but I mix well in martini cocktails and margaritas, with the addition of kala namak.
9. I am bright maroon/red, seeded and tart. I am used for making sweet syrup and my juice adds a deep colour to cocktails.
10. I am spiced and tangy and used as a souring agent – in curries and in cocktails!
11. I am spicy and woody and bring lots of warmth to mulled cocktails. A stick of me is the best garnish you can find for warm cocktails.
12. I am brown, nutty and creamy and am used in wintry drinks. I am also one of the more interesting ingredients in thandai – when I am not being utilised for making milk!
13. I am brown, sweet and made from sugarcane. I am replacing simple syrups in many Indian bar menus.
14. I am tart and aromatic, a staple hot beverage that is a classic ingredient in warm cocktail recipes.
15. I smell warm and fresh and am a great herb in cocktails and warm teas – both brewed and as a garnish.
