Cocktails & Tapas: Journey Around The World With These Food & Drink Pairings

Cocktails & Tapas: Journey Around The World With These Food & Drink Pairings

This one’s for our fellow foodies and cocktail connoisseurs. Let’s get mixing and pair some of our favourite spirits with elevated gourmet tapas.

From distilleries to dishes, it’s time to go on a culinary roller coaster with drink and food pairings from around the world!

Pisco Sour with Ceviche

Bringing some Peruvian spirit to the mix is a Pisco Sour paired with ceviche. The citrusy, frothy Pisco Sour beautifully enhances the fresh, zesty flavours of ceviche. Shake 50 ml of pisco, 25 ml of lime juice, 20 ml of simple syrup, and an egg white with ice, then strain into a glass and add a dash of bitters. Serve with a bowl of tangy, spicy ceviche, and let the flavours dance on your palate.

Negroni with Blue Cheese-Stuffed Olives

For the bold and the brave, the Negroni’s bittersweet profile pairs exquisitely with blue cheese-stuffed olives. The bitterness of the Campari and the herbal notes of vermouth find the perfect partner to tango with, in the rich, creamy blue cheese. Stir 25 ml of gin, 25 ml of Campari, and 25 ml of sweet vermouth with ice, and strain into a glass. Garnish with an orange peel and a couple of those decadent olives, and prepare for a flavour bomb in your mouth.

Whisky Sour with Manchego & Jamón

Next up, we have the classic whisky sour – a cocktail that’s as smooth as it is sophisticated. This beauty pairs wonderfully with Manchego cheese and jamón. The sharpness of the cheese and the savoury notes of the cured ham find a delightful culinary match in the whisky sour. To whip up this classic, combine 50 ml of whisky, 25 ml of lemon juice, 20 ml of simple syrup, and a dash of bitters. Shake it with ice and strain into a glass. Garnish with a cherry and a twist of lemon peel, and get ready for a match made in gastronomical heaven.

Vodka Martini Cocktail with Oysters

Let’s elevate your evening with a sophisticated pairing: a vodka martini cocktail and fresh oysters. The clean, crisp taste of a vodka martini enhances the briny, delicate flavour of the oysters, making each bite a tantalising, luxe experience.

For the martini cocktail , stir 50 ml of vodka with 10 ml of dry vermouth over ice, and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with a lemon twist or an olive, and serve alongside a platter of freshly shucked oysters with a splash of lemon juice and a dash of hot sauce.

Moscow Mule with Spicy Shrimp Skewers

A refreshing, cool Moscow Mule is the perfect foil to spicy shrimp skewers that are packing in the heat. To make a Moscow Mule, mix 50 ml of vodka, 25 ml of lime juice, and top with ginger beer. Serve in a copper mug with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint.

Serve your shrimp skewers hot off the grill, with a side of cooling yoghurt dip to temper the spice (and thank us later).
