Hosting An After-Match Party: 5 Cocktail And Snack Pairings To Mark The Game

After-Match Party

During match season, one of the events to look forward to the most is an after-match party where friends and family can get together to discuss the game in great detail. If one is planning on home hosting this endeavour, there needs to be some provision for snacks because guests might feel like munching on something after watching a well played game.

And these snacks can be paired with different kinds of cocktails too, so that they come together in a fine blend of flavours. Such tasteful pairings can be quite suited to uplift the mood of those whose teams lost, and to cheer those on, whose teams won! Putting together such a creative flavour mix requires paying just a little bit of attention to one’s mixology and culinary preparations.

Read on below to know more about some of the cocktail and snack pairings that can be put together to recount the game at an after-match party:

 1

Masala Mojito

Recommended Pairing: Aloo Chaat

Take a break from watching the match to head to the kitchen and boil potatoes for preparing aloo chaat. This tasty dish made by bringing together aloo tikki with chopped onions, tomatoes, coriander and lots of flavourful mint and tamarind chutneys is a superbly suitable alternative as a post match bite. Guests can munch on the aloo tikki and try out a masala mojito which matches the tangy and acidic flavours of the snack. Prepare the mojito with the addition of 30 ml Ciroc Ultra Premium Vodka or any other vodka of choice instead of the usual white rum. The spirit will be able to better reflect the notes of chaat masala and chilli powder that go into making this blend.

 2

Curry Leaves-Infused Gin And Tonic

Recommended Pairing: Chicken 65

One of the cocktails that has enough body to be able to absorb versatile flavours is a simple gin and tonic. Craft this classic drink using 30 ml Tanqueray No. 10 Gin or any other premium gin of choice and infuse it with curry leaves. Muddle these into a cocktail shaker while bringing the drink together so its savoury and earthy notes would be infused in the cocktail. These curry tastes will go well with a perfectly cooked chicken 65 made by mixing fried chicken in a tempering of curry leaves and chilli.

 3

Spiced Mango Margarita

Recommended Pairing: Masala Corn Cups

Mangoes are more often than not available during match season. This means, fresh mango pulp can be extracted and added to a classic margarita made using 30 ml Don Julio Blanco Tequila or any other premium tequila of choice. A dash of chilli powder will introduce a spicy complexity into the sweet and sour drink. This can be paired with a cup carrying masala corn that is covered in butter and flavoured with lip smacking chaat masala, onions, cumin powder and a pinch of black salt.

 4

Rose And Pomegranate Spritz

Recommended Pairing: Kheema Pao Sliders

Put a floral spin on this post match cocktail by adding rosewater to a pomegranate spritz made using 30 ml Ketel One Premium Distilled Vodka or any other premium vodka of choice, a splash of citrusy, sweet pomegranate juice and a topping of club soda. This floral and citrusy drink would well contrast the spicy flavours of kheema patties that are stuffed in little pieces of pao or buns to craft mini sliders. Add a mint chutney or sriracha dressing to the sliders to infuse them with peppery, spicy, fresh flavours.

 5

Ginger Infused Old Fashioned

Recommended Pairing: Paneer Tikka Skewers

A classic old fashioned is an excellent choice for an after-match party because guests can drink it slowly while discussing the game, ball by ball. Infuse the citrusy flavours of an old fashioned – prepared using 30 ml Johnnie Walker Black Label or any other premium whisky of choice – with fresh ginger shavings and a tablespoon of ginger juice to add its spicy flavour into the drink. This will be complemented by paneer tikka skewers which are full of similar earthy, smoky and umami flavour notes.
