Sidecar Cocktail Recipe To Make At Home; Key Tips For Beginners Inside

sidecar cocktail, classic cocktails, cognac

Following the classic 2:1:1 ratio – the sidecar cocktail is crafted with cognac, orange liqueur and lemon juice. The 20th century creation with debatable origins from Paris or London, derived its name from an army officer who arrived at his preferred bar in a sidecar – the attachment on a motorcycle. Considered as part of the sour cocktails family – it is adjacent to the daiquiri cocktail or margarita cocktail due to its similarity in structure and composition. Key Tips To Perfect The Sidecar Cocktail

- If you prefer to use brandy, opt for a high-quality Californian option since the foundational liquor contributes richness to each sip.
- Tinker with the proportions as per preference; if you prefer to use a bit more orange liqueur than the suggested quantity, balance it with adding some more fresh lemon juice to bring balance.
- The orange liqueur used in the recipe is a non-negotiable element since it brings the perfect amount of dryness and crispness to the drink.
- Ideally, it is best to serve the cocktail in a chilled coupe glass for consistency in temperature as well as flavour preservation – so ideally do so beforehand.
