Fermented Ginger Beverages: Kombucha And More For Winter Mixology 

Kombucha Cocktails 

Kombucha is a fermented tea known for its tangy and slightly fizzy nature. It goes well with gin, vodka, and rum because of its taste. For a winter cocktail, try kombucha with pomegranate or cranberry, both in season. Adding a cinnamon stick or a sprig of rosemary. A normal kombucha cocktail has 30 ml of vodka, 90 ml of kombucha, and juice. It is served in a highball glass over ice. This drink has the right amount of tartness and sweetness for one person.

Ginger Beer Blends 

Ginger beer is a fermented, non-alcoholic beverage with a spicy touch from ginger. It can act as the base for several winter cocktails, such as a ginger beer mule. Combine 30ml of bourbon or whisky with 120 ml of ginger beer and lime juice. Garnish with a slice of lime and grated nutmeg. This simple recipe improves the spice-forward notes of ginger.  

Tepache-Based Creations 

Tepache, a drink made from fermented pineapple, goes well with dark spirits like rum. Adding ginger to tepache makes it taste better and more like winter spices. Add some orange bitters to 120 ml of tepache, 30 ml of dark rum, and mix them. This makes a simple tepache punch. Serve it over ice in a short glass and garnish with a slice of orange. This serves one and combines sweetness with a spicy note.

Ginger Kvass Drink 

Kvass is a traditional Slavic fermented drink that can have ginger added to it to make it taste different. During the winter, cinnamon and apple cider can be slowly added to ginger kvass to prepare drinks. For a drink with alcohol, add 30 ml of whisky or brandy. Put it in a mug and add a cinnamon stick on top. This recipe brings out the flavour of ginger with a touch of spice that tastes better. 

Non-Alcoholic Ginger Shrubs 

Ginger-based shrubs, made with fermented ginger syrup and vinegar, can be good for crafting non-alcoholic options. For a winter twist, mix 30 ml of ginger shrub with 120 ml of sparkling water. Then, add 60ml of apple juice. Put it in a tall glass with ice and top it off with a thin slice of ginger. This drink can work as a tangy and mildly spiced alternative.

Sparkling Ginger Lemonade 

Fermented ginger lemonade provides a balanced base for sparkling drinks. Combine 120 ml of ginger lemonade with 30 ml of dry gin and top with soda water. Garnish with a lemon twist for a light winter drink. Its citrus notes pair well with ginger. 

Ginger Mead Fusions 

Mead is a honey drink that has been fermented and can be made more interesting by adding ginger. You can make a winter drink by mixing 120 ml of ginger mead with 30 ml of spiced rum. Serve in a coupe glass with cranberry juice. Add cranberries or sugared rim as a garnish.  

Fermented ginger beverages, such as kombucha, ginger beer, and tepache, are versatile additions to winter mixology.
