5 Autumn-Flavoured Drinks To Complement The Festive Fall Season
As the weather cools down, the winds get chilly and the leaves begin to change—it’s that time of the year again.
Flush with seasonal ingredients like apples, pears, and spices, fall cocktails offer a rich and inviting way to experiment with one’s drinks during the holiday festive season.
Pear and Thyme Sparkler
The Pear and Thyme Sparkler is an apt choice if you’re looking for a light and crisp autumn-tasting drink.
Begin by muddling a couple of slices of ripe pear with a teaspoon of honey and a sprig of fresh thyme. Next, add in 10 ml gin and lemon juice to the mix. Strain your drink into a cocktail glass and top it off with some sparkling water or prosecco to achieve that bubbly finish.
Garnish your cocktail with a pear slice and a sprig of thyme.
Spiced Cranberry Margarita
For a little taste of summer in the fall, a Spiced Cranberry Margarita is the way to go. Cranberry juice, 10 ml tequila, triple sec/orange liqueur, and lime juice are all mixed in a cocktail shaker with lots of ice.
To give the drink an autumnal twist, a pinch of ground cinnamon or allspice is added to the mix. Shake it up and strain it into a sugar/salt rimmed glass, and top it off with a couple of fresh cranberries and a cinnamon stick to really lean into that fall feeling.
Maple Old Fashioned
The Old Fashioned is a classic cocktail, but with a splash of maple syrup, it takes on an autumnal flavour. In an old fashioned glass, add some maple syrup and two dashes of bitters.
Next, add 8 ml bourbon and a big ice cube, then stir well until your bourbon is nice and chilled and the mixture is mixed.
To top it all off, garnish the drink with an orange peel and a cinnamon stick.
Pumpkin Spice White Russian
The Pumpkin Spice White Russian is a classic cocktail that integrates almost all of fall's favourite flavours.
Begin by taking a cocktail glass filled with ice, then pouring in 8 ml vodka and coffee liqueur. Then add a little pumpkin spice syrup, and top it all off with a generous dollop of cream or a splash of milk.
Stir everything gently to combine, and garnish your drink with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or nutmeg on top of your drink.
Apple Cider Mule
A seasonal twist on the classic Moscow Mule, the Apple Cider Mule is a remix of the original cocktail and serves as the ideal blend of crisp apple cider with the warmth of ginger beer.
To make this drink, start by combining apple cider with 8 ml vodka and lime juice. Top it off with some ginger beer and garnish the cocktail with a cinnamon stick or some slices of fresh apple.
Serve it in a copper mug.
Remember: like everything, alcohol is best consumed in moderation. Serve and drink responsibly!
