The cranberry martini cocktail, often known as a ‘crantini’ cocktail, arose as a popular variation of the classic martini cocktail in the mid to late 20th century, riding on the wave of vodka’s growing popularity. Unlike its gin-and-vermouth ancestors, this vodka-based innovation has a fruity flavour profile, its beautiful appearance foreshadowing the flavourful sips that follow.
Place a martini cocktail glass or coupe glass in the freezer. Combine the vodka, cranberry juice, fresh lime juice, ginger simple syrup and dry vermouth in a cocktail shaker.
Fill with ice and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to thoroughly cool.
Remove the serving glass from the freezer and double-strain the drink into the glass, leaving no ice shards or pulp behind.
For added visual appeal and aroma, garnish with fresh or frozen cranberries and a lime twist before serving.
