The Vesper martini cocktail is a statement rather than merely a beverage. The brainchild of author Ian Fleming, his popular literary character gave it its name in the 1953 novel Casino Royale. Shaken until bracingly cold, this drink combines the botanical flavour of gin, the icy clarity of vodka and the delicate, floral bitterness of dry vermouth.
Combine the ingredients in an ice-filled shaker.
Shake vigorously for approximately 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
Strain into a chilled martini cocktail glass or coupe glass.
Garnish with a lemon peel twist, releasing its oils into the drink prior to addition.
